In Her Name Finds Distribution with Tribeca Films

After months of prepping for distribution we are ready to accept our invitation to Tribeca Films! In Her Name will be in great company among hundreds of other award-winning films featured throughout the history of the festival.

Tribeca International Film Festival was founded in 2001 by Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro to help bring together the community of lower Manhattan following the events of 9/11. It has gone on to become a prestigious figure in the film community, introducing some of the best films of the year annually. They are now extending their carefully curated festival into all of our homes with Tribeca Films, featuring films, shorts, panel discussions, and exclusive red carpet content from the Tribeca Festival.

In Her Name joins the Tribeca Films as a part of the Alumni Program, an opportunity for select alumni filmmakers to distribute their films. We are thrilled to be included as they launch their new platform.

In Her Name Review

When In Her Name premiered at Tribeca Film Festival, one of the reviews of the film came from Leslie Combemale, a journalist and expert on cinema art. She is a frequent contributor to MPA's TheCredits.org, where she interviews filmmakers with a focus on women and diverse voices. She is the Senior Contributor at AWFJ.org and an annual moderator of the "Women Rocking Hollywood" panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

It is an honor to have Leslie represent the film the way it was intended to be seen — a film about “radical forgiveness” set within the “portrait of sisterhood”.

“Do you want to hold on to your anger more than you want to be free?”

Viewers could hardly be blamed for questioning whether Carter and her cast will be able to perform the exorcism required to release them from their possession. That they achieve a sort of release, and find forgiveness, gives the film its power.

It’s also a sweet portrait of sisterhood, with its rivalries, shared memories, missed opportunities, and desire for connection. It’s a worthy first effort for Carter, who, as a writer/director clearly has a voice worth amplifying.

Returning to Not Film Festival

We’ll be returning to Italy for Not Film Festival with A Pity!

We had the most wonderful time at the festival celebrating In Her Name, and we look forward to sharing wine and pasta back in the olive orchard with our filmmaking friends to close out the summer.

Not Film Festival is one of the leading international indie film festivals in Italy held yearly in Santarcangelo di Romagna, a dreamy city nested in the most romantic Italian countryside.

Many thanks to the festival art directors Giovani Labadessa and Alize Latini! A Pity has been placed as the festival opener!

Filmmakers Kevin X. Barth and Alec Barth will be attending in person along with actor-producer David Agranov and Sarah Carter, who will be featured in a producers panel.

Malibu International Film Festival

A Pity was featured in the Malibu International Film Festival. The 26-year-old festival is held at the Directors Guild of America and specifically focuses on showcasing films from emerging filmmakers.

On the Horizon…

Cheshire Moon Productions has several collaborations in the works and friends to thank for keeping our creative juices flowing.

George Fuentes at THINKINGSEEDSTUDIO has been offering his guidance as we prepare to produce our first animated short - Chrisalice. THINKINGSEEDSTUDIO produces and develops Fine Art Printing, Animation, Digital Art, and Concept Art into award-winning masterpieces. The company develops creative packages including scripts, storyboard, artwork, budgets, production schedules, and overall completion of projects through their internal animation teams and partners.

Our upcoming animated short is based on a children’s book idea we’ve been playing with the past year and are finally ready to publish. Huge thank you to #1 New York Times Bestselling Author and dear friend, Lauren Morphew, for doctoring this story from conception to completion. Having expert support has encouraged the value of staying true to the original vision to create a work of art intended to help young children draw on their natural understanding of life and death and not be afraid to impart their own wisdom in the case that tragedy strikes within their family.

This is a deeply personal project and one that is leading CMP into a wonderland of characters, craftspeople, and connectors in publication, writing, directing, and producing as we navigate the world of animation.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you are inspired to collaborate on this project. We are currently seeking funding, illustrators, and a team of animators to bring this beautiful story to life. You can learn more about the project here.

Pictured is Writer/Director Sarah Carter alongside George Fuentes, owner of THINKINGSEEDSTUDIO. George is an executive producer, director, and artist, who has been running Thinking Seed for the past 16 years. As an artist, he has contributed to numerous projects, including the Emmy award-winning title sequence to Game Of Thrones; closing ceremony to the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Seoul, Korea; and Jay Z’s animated project, The Story of OJ. His love for storytelling has charted his path as a writer/director and founder of THINKINGSEEDSTUDIO, now focused primarily on the development of his own animated content. It’s been an honor to receive his guidance through the uncharted territory of producing animation.

Chrisalice is a colorful, dreamy, and poetic picture book that will help children process the nature of life and death in a way that honors their natural emotional intelligence. It offers hope, depth, and faith while bringing a sense of wonder, lightness, and play to tender times of transition.

Mentorship Spotlight: Matt Maddox

Matt Maddox is an actor and filmmaker who picked up a camera out of the desire to learn more about the world around him. In his projects, Matt seeks to explore the deeper facets of the human condition through many walks of life. He hopes his talents and abilities will help give solace to someone who may be struggling to be understood in the world we live in.

Whether he is in front of the camera or behind the lens, Matt’s wish is to help bring other creative visions to life. Having directed, produced and filmed his own projects, he knows that storytelling is an expedition. Being able to collaborate with like-minded artists and journey together to bring their vision to fruition is a lifelong goal of his.

Interdependence

Family is the foundation of Cheshire Moon Productions. We honor interdependence and recognize that the nature of creativity is essentially collaborative.

Throughout these uncertain times in the entertainment industry and the world at large, we have been more grateful than ever to have cultivated a network of artists willing to think outside the box, bring forth great work, and stay inspired.

It’s been amazing to stand strong in solidarity with our unions WGA and SAG-AFTRA, and to feel the unstoppable force of artists owning their worth.

May we all continue to believe in each other and in the power of art, humanity, beauty, and connection to keep our hearts open to hope.

We need to tell our stories and we need each other to do so.

We are family.

Thank you to my beautiful husband, Kevin X. Barth and my daughter Alice for supporting me to dig deeper into my joy, face my fears, and be more in love than I ever thought possible.
