DiNG Goes Into Production

Cameras go up first thing tomorrow morning on the set of DiNG. We have cast and crew out of LA joining forces with an awesome local Memphis team. DiNG, written and directed by Matt Maddox, initiated the CMP Mentorship Program lead by Sarah Carter. Over the course of working with Matt, he has become a dear friend and integral part of the company.

Ding will be Matt’s first official proof of concept short film with CMP. He has worn every hat, experienced a full shutdown due to the hurricane, and maintained a superhuman level of focus and drive in order to reach this moment of opportunity. We couldn’t be more excited to bring his dream to life.

The CMP Mentorship Program is designed to support artists to refine their creative process, shape their visions, nurture their ideas and garner recognition igniting a sustainable career.

DiNG follows two girls ding dong ditching houses in a suburban cul-de-sac who stumble upon a neighborhood secret that alters their world forever. Follow along for more updates on the project as we move into production.

Follow us on social media @cheshiremoonproductions & @mcmaddox_ for updates on the project and how you can be involved over the course of its journey.

Out of the Blue by Dennis Hopper at Petit Ermitage

CMP is co-hosting Monday Night Music & Film Salons at Petit Ermitage with Darby Gaelle Hannon, and BLKBRD Films. Our next event on Monday, November 18th will feature the 40th anniversary 4k restoration of Dennis Hopper’s 1980 film, Out of the Blue.

Our screening will include a special appearance by restoration producers John Alan Simon & Elizabeth Karr, who will be in attendance to discuss the film before and after, and a musical performance by Frankie Palmer.

The cast includes Linda Manz, Dennis Hopper, Sharon Farrell, Don Gordon, and Raymond Burr.

SYNOPSIS: While driving intoxicated, Don Barnes (Dennis Hopper) crashed his truck into a school bus. This accident cost the lives of many town kids and resulted in his five-year sentence to prison for manslaughter. When he finally gets out of jail, Don tries to re-connect with his wife Kathy (Sharon Farrell), now working as a waitress, but promiscuous and drug-addicted. Since his incarceration, their daughter CeBe (Linda Manz) has grown into a traumatized teen misfit, fascinated both by Elvis and the punk rock movement. Each of these lost souls dream in their own way of forming a united family again, struggling against the dark past that still tears them apart.

Azazel Jacobs writes: "I was the age Linda Manz is in Out of the Blue when I first saw it, and had never seen such a genuine reflection of being a kid in an adult world. I also felt the same about punk as her character does, and the joy she expresses in one particular scene is the one many of us have had, finding a culture just for us. Dennis Hopper’s miraculous and urgent filmmaking, just as punk as ‘Cebe’ (Linda Manz’s character), continues to inspire."

If you have a short film or feature you would like to submit for consideration please contact Sarah Carter, Darby Hannon or James Oliver directly, or contact us below with a link to your film, a short bio, and a description of the project. We are currently curating a celebration of women in film, so be sure to submit and look out for more information on that event.

We are also curating a night of shorts with Gio Baladessa, the founder of Not Film Festival, for another magical evening in December.

Support Peace Leadership in Gaza

It is with first hand experience working with Ann Bradney at Radical Aliveness that CMP fully endorses and supports her continued efforts in Gaza.

Ann began working with the Israeli and Palestinian people long before the recent attacks. Her courage to be there in person to facilitate connection and healing has not wavered throughout the war and the results have been miraculous.

Hope for peace lies within our own hearts. Change of heart after trauma, oppression, and separation is only possible through deep processing of pain. We all need to be seen, heard, and acknowledged for what we have lived through. It’s a basic human need to know that we matter and that we belong.

Sarah studied group process work with Ann for many years and two years intensive. It forever changed her understanding of what’s possible when people are witnessed expressing their deepest and most vulnerable truths in a safe, accepting space. Very few people are equipped to hold this kind of space for real trauma. Ann is one of the rare souls alive today who is out doing the work, teaching her work, and offering group processes for peace and human connection where it is most needed.

Collective healing is a skill Sarah has aspired to cultivate in her personal life and bring to the spaces she holds as an artist, director, and producer. She believes connection through shared truth is what is most needed in our world today, which is why she’s bringing awareness and helping to raise funds for this extraordinary work.

Funnily enough, Ann and Sarah were both born on October 30th, which might have something to do with their individual missions aligning. They are both devoted to inspiring revelation of consciousness and connection to our hearts through shared story.

Celebrate with us and make your donation to Ann Bradney’s groundbreaking work with Radical Aliveness today.

If the Israeli and Palestinian people can heal and connect, there is hope for us all.
